Welcome to the AC Propulsion website. We hope you're looking for information about electric cars, because that's what we're all about. Whether you are enthusiastic, just curious, or openly skeptical about electric vehicles (EVs), we think you'll find information here that you may not have seen before.

AC Propulsion designs and manufactures drive systems for electric cars. In order to develop, test and demonstrate our drive systems, we build electric cars, we drive them, and we've been doing so since 1992. I built my first EV in my driveway before AC Propulsion existed, and that car has gone more than 100,000 miles and it is still used every day. Lately, I've been driving the prototype tzero sports car and it now has more than 30,000 miles on it. Last year we started paying employees to rack up miles in one of our EVs after work and on weekends. That car just clocked its 20,000th electric mile.

We apply what we learn from using our cars to create EVs that maximize the strengths of electric propulsion and minimize the weaknesses. This means that in some ways our philosophy about building EVs differs from that of many automakers. The automakers seem to think no one will buy an EV unless the EV is just like a conventional car. AC Propulsion thinks no one will buy an EV unless they have a reason to want one. We are dedicated to giving drivers a reason to want an EV.

What reasons? A good EV has a free-and-easy driveability, and invigorating and effortless performance. It's fun and relaxing. It goes far enough on a charge, and recharges easily and quickly. Look through our website and you'll see how we provide performance, efficiency, and convenience with our AC-150 drive system and Reductive charger. You'll see how our Long Ranger can get you anywhere you want to drive. You'll see how the tzero is quicker, quieter, and more efficient than any other car on the road.

See the tzero, and you'll want to drive it. Drive it, and you'll want to own it, even though it holds only two people and costs a lot of money. Beyond the few people who will actually buy one though, the tzero will change the perceptions of some people who might then look for a more practical, less expensive EV. To make sure such people can find an EV that they want, AC Propulsion and Volkswagen are teaming up to develop EVs for the broader market.

Thanks for visiting our website. If you have questions or comments send them to us. Come back and see us often. We'll keep you up to date about what we're doing and where we're going.
